Imbalance in autophagy and potential autophagy modulators
Increased autophagy may be seen in type 2 (T2) asthma and with acute exposure to cigarette smoke and may be reduced by autophagy inhibitors, which restore autophagic flux to normal. Decreased autophagy is seen in COPD and non-T2 asthma and may be restored by various autophagy activators.
