Under normal conditions, KLF15 inhibits the transcription of NFATc1 gene by directly binding to the promoter region of NFATc1. Under pathological conditions, KLF15 reduction leads to the decrease level of KLF15 in the promoter region of NFATc1, thereby enhancing the transcription of NFATc1 gene. Finally, the activation of NFAT signaling contributes to podocuye injury.
