The cover features an illustration showing the difference between a normal airway and one affected by asthma. Asthma is an exemplar of circadian control in respiratory disease. Many of its features are under circadian control including leukocyte trafficking and airway constriction. Clinically this results in diurnal oscillation of symptoms and a nocturnal dip in peak flow readings.
