Expression of Concern: Normal-sodium diet compared with low-sodium diet in compensated congestive heart failure: is sodium an old enemy or a new friend?

The Editorial Board of Clinical Science would like to issue an Expression of Concern for the paper “Normal-sodium diet compared with low-sodium diet in compensated congestive heart failure: is sodium an old enemy or new friend?” (by Paterna, Gaspare, Fasullo, Sarullo and Di Pasquale). Subsequent to the publication of this paper in Clinical Science, it became evident that some data were duplicated in a paper published in the Journal of Cardiac Failure (doi 10.1016/j.cardfail.2009.06.002).

While the data were first published in Clinical Science and hence is the original source the Editorial Board would like to alert readers to use the data in the paper with caution, given the duplication issue.
