Access content during the Covid-19 pandemic

Given the current global coronavirus pandemic, we wanted to assure users that we are doing all that we can to support researchers during this difficult time. Whether this is accessing our content remotely or accessing research that we have published related to coronavirus, further details are provided below.

Logging in via Remote Access

We currently support remote access with the following Shibboleth Federations:

  • AAF (Australia)
  • DFN-AAI (Germany)
  • InCommon
  • OpenAthens Federation
  • UK Access Management Federation

How to log in

  1. On the Portland Press website, select “Sign In” at the top right of the page.
  2. From the options, click on the link “Sign in via your Institution”.
  3. On the next page, choose your Federation from the first drop-down list. Then look for your institution’s name on the second list.
  4. Click the blue “Select” button. This should take you to your institution’s login page. Here, you will need the username and password supplied by your institution.

If the last step does not work, and returns you to the main Portland Press homepage, this means that the credentials we have for that account are incorrect. If this happens, please inform your institution, and have them send the following information to sales@portlandpress.com, so we can edit their account’s credentials:

  • Federation and Shibboleth Entity ID (both are required fields)
  • Scoped Affiliation and/or Person Affiliation and/or Person Entitlement (at least one of these is required)

Access to research and findings related to coronavirus

The Biochemical Society and Portland Press have signed a joint statement committing to rapid and open sharing of research and findings relevant to the coronavirus outbreak. All past content has been made free to read, and all content from 1 February onwards covering the novel coronavirus is being published open access.

A collection of the content can be found here, which is updated as soon as new content is available.

Further steps for making content seamlessly accessible in these times are currently under assessment. If you have feedback, or if we can help in any other way, please write to us at sales@portlandpress.com
