Scope
Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of life science research, Emerging Topics in Life Sciences is a journal jointly-owned by the Royal Society of Biology and the Biochemical Society specializing in publishing themed issues on emerging topics.
From students and early-career researchers to established scientists, the reader will be kept up-to-date with recent advances, leading perspectives and emerging trends across the life sciences. Areas covered in the journal include, but are not limited to: cell and molecular biology, organismal biology, biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, clinical and medical sciences, plant science, veterinary sciences, ecology, and environmental sciences.
Written for an interdisciplinary audience, each issue focusses on a new, or growing, key topic and is guest edited by an expert in that field.
Aims of the journal
- Support researchers and students in providing easy-to-digest reviews of rapidly moving areas
- Cover interdisciplinary areas of life science research that have yet to be reviewed extensively in the literature
- Provide a single reference point and an up-to-date overview of hot topics
The role of the Guest Editor
Each issue of the Journal is overseen by an expert in the field. The main role of the Guest Editor is to work with the editorial team to commission contributions for the issue and, upon submission, ensure that the scientific content is appropriate.
Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of current research, the Guest Editor is free to draw content from all area of the life sciences, eventually compiling an issue of approximately 10–14 papers, each around 3000 words in length.
